So what is it that I really like to do? Well the answer is draw, paint, create things, and experiment with different medium. So what is it I really like to do? Well just get my hands dirty, usually that includes my shirt, occasionally my pants, and oops the chair cushions on my porch sometimes get it too.

I love bright colors, the feel of acrylic paint, markers going across a smooth paper, and the sound of my cat chasing run-away beads across the floor, it is funny. I delight in creating what seem to be loose, free, and abstract designs to the eyes of others. However, in reality my designs are created in a very rule oriented manner. Sometimes my line designs touch, sometimes they don’t. Colors are carefully chosen to repeat or only to be used once. It seems crazy sometimes but it works for me. Getting lost in a maze of controlled lines actually clears my head of all the other life distractions.

In my schooling of art I was once told by one of my one of my favorite professors that my work or designs were “anemic.” At first I thought good grief, but it was a valuable lesson. So over the years I have tried to break out the anemic and boring. It was a great struggle. I also know there is a point in a piece of work, no matter what it is, that it can be overdone. I am still trying to find that “over-the-edge” point of no return in my work. Jackson Pollock is one of my favorites, there may be some paint flinging in my future endeavors.
My concentration for my undergraduate degree was in surface/fabric design. So my work continues not only on canvas or paper, but on a variety of material as well. I enjoy tackling a design on a 3-dimensional object as much as do a large flat paper surface or cloth.

So what do I like to do? Find out for yourself as you cruise through the variety of my work here on my website. I often have people ask me-“Do you make all of this?” and my response is yes indeed. When my hands are tired from forming wire bookmarks I turn to the paint brush. When I get frustrated with a piece of jewelry that isn’t cooperating with my hands, I go back to my pens. The creative thought process never stops, fortunately or unfortunately it continues wee into the hours of the night/morning. But that’s ok, I get excited when I visualize a new design and start to see it come alive in whatever medium wins for that piece. Enjoy!
