Situation: In a large scale effort to increase awareness of the state parks in Georgia, the state parks department launched the “Get Outdoors, Georgia!” campaign. Challenge: Allow site visitors to to find parks of interest based on preferences for location or a set of activities. Solution: Utilizing a Google® maps mashup and some heavy geocoding and SQL database queries, we produced sets of interactive maps that could handle requests in an efficient manner. Highlights: > It’s exciting to be part of a large campaign like this! > Unique use of geocoding to find nearby parks of interest > Complex grouping of park sets where multiple search criteria were provided |
